In my preview of the Escort Max 360 a couple of weeks ago I stated that this new detector incorporated a dual-LNA setup, similar to the M3 platform of radar detectors from Beltronics and Escort.
Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be the case as Escort has made a clarification. Was the reference to an LNA inclusion a hint of something to come in the future? I don’t know, but that would sure be interesting.
In any event, I wanted to correct the record for my readers and extend my apologies for this miscommunication.
Now that I have had my hands on one, I have updated the original article with the correction and have included some additional information from my first-hand experiences with an early model.
I expect to have a video preview out sometime tomorrow and an interesting real-world multi-Ka band encounter from two different cruisers. I can say this, pretty confidently: my initial impression is that one day (soon) we may be experiencing other platforms from Escort that eclipse the M3 in sheer detection performance.
As I have felt all along, I believe Escort’s better days are ahead of them.

In the meantime, be sure to drive smart and ticket free.
